Raymond studied violin/viola at the Royal Northern College of Music and finished both his degree and masters with distinction in performance and won numerous prizes and awards. Raymond went straight into a busy freelance career and has played, including pricipal positions, with many of the countrys leading orchestras such as the Royal Philharmonic, the Halle, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra and many more. His work has taken him to as diverse locations such as Japan, South America, Armenia and the Seychelles. He also plays regularly with smaller ensembles and chamber groups such as Psappha and Lancashire Sinfonietta. Although playing often in the Classical world he enjoys working and collaborating with artists from other genre and has worked with diverse artists such as Stuart McCallum, Guy Barker, Martin Taylor, Sting, Corrine Bailey-Rae, the Bootleg Beatles, the Pet Shop Boys, and Jon Lord.
